Parenting Resource

Our pastor recommended that each year we read one parenting book and one book about marriage- great idea.
Grace-Based Parenting

I'd love to pass along this parenting book suggestion (and I'd love to hear yours!):

Grace Based Parenting by Dr. Tim Kimmel. Read this gem and you'll understand why it is a must read:

"The real test of a parenting model is how well equipped the children are to move into adulthood as vital members of the human race. Notice I didn't say "as vital members of the Christian community". We need to have kids that can be sent off to the most hostile universities, toil in the greediest work environments, and raise their families in the most hedonistic communities and yet not be the least bit intimidated by their surroundings. Furthermore, they need to be engaged in the lives of people in their culture, gracefully representing Christ's love inside these desperate surroundings."

  1. I'm not even a parent yet, but I LOVE the summary/forward on this book. I've copied the resource in a Word document for later days. Man, how important though. That we equip each other/our kids to live in the world, to come up against obstacles, and to offer grace and love to others, rather than encourage them to become solely "vital members of the Christian community". Thanks Erika.
